The organization was founded in the summer of 2009 by a group of friends who wanted to help create and produce
some of the great performing art we see in Seattle. We kicked off our inaugural season in November 2009 with Seeing Myself Consumed:
A Christmas Spactacular. We had a great time, some great audiences, and we didn't kill each other, so we decided to keep going.
We believe that good stories and the relationships between interesting characters are what drive good theatre. We also believe that talented actors, creative directors, and unique shows resonate within the minds and hearts of our audience.
We are looking forward to this ambitious seventh year on the Seattle fringe-theatre scene. We'd love for you to join us in this adventure.
After receiving his BA in theatre, VJ did his post-graduate work at The National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City. He has directed at several regional and community theatres, including Renton Civic Theatre, SecondStory Repertory Theatre, Seattle Musical Theatre, and Carco Theatre. He was the Cultural Arts Coordinator for the City of Renton and Manager of Carco Theatre for 14 years and has served as a board member for both Seattle Musical Theatre and Renton Civic Theatre. Vincent (VJ) Orduna is proud to be working with STAGEright as he's been a fan of the company for years.
Over the past year, Mike has been skulking on the periphery with STAGEright and is proud to be able to apply his business skills and artistic talents in the role of Managing Director. Mike has been involved in the greater Puget Sound theater scene since 2000 performing on (and off) stage with Renton Civic Theater, Burien Live Theater, Seattle Musical Theater, the Dickens Carolers and the Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society; with which Mike was also a Trustee and served as Board Vice President and President. Outside of working with STAGEright, Mike is currently also one of the Performance Directors for the Dickens Carolers where he trains performers on the finer points of Holiday cheer. Professionally, Mike has worked in various management positions within several retail and hospitality companies throughout Seattle; he is currently the General Manager of the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in downtown Seattle, where he gets to share the joys of the Emerald City with visitors from all over the globe. Mike studied theater at the University of Montana and while it might not be his "day job", his still loves performing and singing whenever able.
One of the founding STAGEright members, Brendan Mack's interests and concentrations have always been in bringing new experiences to Seattle theater audiences. He has served as the director for STAGEright's Seeing Myself Consumed, BJ: A Musical Romp, The Pirates of Penzance, All in the Timing headed up XCX: The Xmas Carol Xperiment the Seattle premiere of Are You There God? It's me, Karen Carpenter and most recently Weird Romance. Mack has a background in scenic design working on the scenic designs for Melancholy Play, The Elephant Man, and Weird Romance. Mack is also the writer and director for WEB, a dark adaptation of E.B. White's Charlotte's Web. Mack has worked with a variety of Seattle theaters, including Copious Love Productions, Theater Schmeater, 14/48, Renton Civic Theater, Sister Leigh Love Productions, and Arthaus with the Haus of Keebler at Kremwerk. Mack Graduated BFA Theater from Syracuse University. Professional credits include work with Syracuse Stage, Capitol Repertory Theater, Missoula Childrens Theater, and continuing to see his written work produced nationally at many theaters. "In all things; find color, find art, and interrupt your own expectations."
Sophia has the esteemed honor of having been the Associate Artistic Director with STAGEright for the past four amazing years, and performed in three shows with them prior to coming on board as a staff member (Gabriel in BJ: A Musical Romp, Anna in The Firebugs, and The Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance). She holds her AA from SCCC with an emphasis in the Performing Arts, and has worked as a director, vocal director, stage manager, actor, and playwright in and around the Seattle area. In addition, she is a singer/songwriter and is currently in the process of recording her first EP. She is so excited to bring all of her past experiences home to roost with her beloved company in this new role as Co-Artistic Director with her partner in crime, Brendan Mack, and looks forward to all of the new, beautiful, weird magic that STAGEright is going to create as they start this next chapter of their story.
Colin holds a film degree from New York Film Academy, and a degree in Graphic Design and Communications from Seattle Central College. He specializes in print and online media communication, web design and development, and has a passion for theatre and event marketing. He works as a freelance designer, and also as a front-end web developer for Smartsheet, an online productivity tool for businesses of all sizes. He directed I Gelosi for STAGEright, and has worked at Seattle Musical Theatre and Renton Civic Theatre, directing Hairspray, A Funny Thing…Forum, and Sweeney Todd alongside VJ Orduña.
Kiki hails from the cornfields of Iowa with a BA in Theatre Arts from the incomparable University of Iowa. She is an actor, teaching artist, and social media marketer for the greater Seattle arts. The best part about being offered a staff position is that she has been on the STAGEright bandwagon for quite some time. She's attended their shows (all the way back to the inaugural Seeing Myself Consumed), performed in Matt & Ben, and is now hashtagging all over their social media channels. She loves this company for their passion, talent, and overall insanity and hopes that you'll like us on Facebook. *hint hint*
